The Cades Cove picnic area is one of the most popular picnic grounds in the Park. Located at the entrance to the Cove Loop Road, this picnic area has quite a few picnic tables, some handicapped accessible. Some picnic tables are situated along the river, offering a wonderfully relaxing day in the mountains.
From East Knoxville the Picnic Area is about a 1.5 hour trip.
This picnic area is perfect for a trip with the little ones, the river is shallow and a great place to explore. They even have bathrooms nearby!
The rocks can be slippery, so make sure you bring some water shoes to splash around in.
We loved walking down the river with the little ones, so much to see and explore, they even have a walking trail on the opposite side of the river from the picnic tables.
Overall a great trip full of memories! Make sure you bring your camera for this one!
Cades Cove is the number one destination inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The beautiful valley is popular for its hiking trails, serene pastures, wildflowers, black bears, whitetail deer, waterfalls, rivers, and historic buildings.
Visitors to Cades Cove could spend weeks exploring! If Cades Cove is just one stop on your Smoky Mountain vacation, we suggest having a picnic while you're there!
